Tifon becomes the first in Croatia to introduce fast EV chargers to key transport corridors – A1 and A6 motorways
Draganić, April 16, 2019 – Today, Tifon d.o.o., member of MOL Group, put into operation a fast charger for electric vehicles, with MOL Plugee brand, at its Draganić Sjever service station. At the same time, the company also handed over two other fast chargers at the service stations of Draganić Jug and Ravna Gora. These are the first ever fast chargers for electric vehicles on Croatia’s motorways connecting the Zagreb – Rijeka route, and the first of many fast chargers that will connect the Zagreb – Split route just before the start of the tourist season.
Tifon is thus going to be one of the first participants in the Croatian energy market to enter the upcoming tourist season offering unrestricted, much simpler travel via EVs for all tourists, completely fueled by electricity. By the end of May Tifon will deploy fast chargers at its service stations at Dobra and Jasenice.
These installations are part of the NEXT-E project, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union, in which Tifon is participating in as a member of MOL Group. MOL Group has the most available network of stations in the Central and Eastern Europe and the company adopted the MOL 2030 strategy three years ago, a vision that sets the company's main directions for the next period. One of the foundations behind the development of this strategy was MOL's desire to become the first choice for its customers. Thanks to the NEXT-E project, MOL Group is able to better meet the requirements of customers and expand its network with charging stationsThe MOL Plugee branded fast chargers for electric vehicles on Croatian motorways were initially rolled out by CEO of Tifon Mr. Siniša Komnenović with the first ever charging.
“At our four service stations in Zagreb, Tifon offers electric vehicle owners a fast charging service. We are also the first in Croatia to have installed fast chargers for electric vehicles in Croatia’s key transport corridors, the A1 and A6 motorways. All this is part of our development strategy as a member of the consortium involved in the NEXT-E project, as well as our intent to offer customers top-grade quality by following global trends, especially environment-wise. Since the beginning of this year, we have been getting inquiries from customers across Europe about connecting the coast and the mainland with electric vehicle chargers, so we are very proud to be able to offer just that as of today. This is a great occasion for Croatia’s tourism and the economy on the whole, and a giant step in responsible and efficient energy management and CO2 emission reduction, something which Tifon strives for as a responsible company,” said CEO of Tifon.
The MOL Plugee branded fast chargers at Tifon service stations support all relevant charging standards (AC and DC), allowing various types of vehicles to charge, taking up to an hour and a half for AC charging and 25 to 35 minutes for DC charging. Using the EV chargers will be free of charge for the first month after the launch (until May 16), after which time a normal (AC) charge will cost HRK 54.90, and a fast (DC) charge will cost HRK 74.90 per session.
